CAPTAINS FIRST HALF MATCH REPORT - SECOND GAME

Frascati 0 - 54 ISRFC The Lambs.

The Lambs travelled out of the city of Rome to Frascati for their second match of the tour. Again, parts of the ground left something to be desired with sections resembling a child's toy gravel pit. However, this didn't deter the enterprising Lambs who were willing to do the hard yards early doors and then attack with width and pace as the match progressed!

The beginning of the fixture was a near copy of yesterday's match with the Italian opposition frustrating the Lambs with stubborn defence. The Lambs soon began to gain the ascendency as a dominant set-piece led by a front row of Poulton, Brown and Simpson pulling all the strings in the scrummage. The points began to flow with man-of-match Simpson picking from the base of the ruck to power over. Soon after Fryer demonstrated his inherent strength when given the ball with plenty to do and ran through several Italians to score in the corner. To round off the first half, Simpson did exactly what he does best and ran hard and direct making large yards before showing off some delicate handling skills to offload to Ryan who had the simple job of dotting down.

The half finished with the Lambs 19 points to the good and hoping to progress in the second-half like yesterday.

The details of the second half are rather confused but it was characterised by very aggressive defence and precise, incisive running lines resulting in numerous line breaks which on five occasions were finished off well. Gooderham, Power, Williams, Hamoui and Watts all crossed the whitewash to secure a thoroughly impressive victory. Bring on the final game of tour on Friday.

Yours in Rugby,
Poults.
