SCOTTISH EXILES MATCH REPORT

Our squad turned up at the Mt St Mary’s College on a sunny, if cold, Sunday morning. The weather was a huge improvement on the Arctic weather we had ‘enjoyed’ the week before.

The Lambs kicked off and within seconds we had crossed the line, exploiting a rare gap in the Exile’s defence.

This obviously served as a wake-up call for the Exiles as they proceeded to run in 4 tries over the next 30 minutes. The Lamb’s lack of previous match time was reflected in some basic mistakes being made and they went in to half time 26-5 behind.

With some significant changes being made at half time the Lambs started the second half looking more settled and eager to redress the balance.

Where the first half seemed to consist of the Lambs defending, the second half showed far more attacking play and 2 tries were run in and calmly converted. The last few minutes were tense. The Lambs could see that victory could be theirs but it wasn’t to be and the whistle blew on a final score of Scottish Exiles – 26 Independent Schools – 19
